Besonderes Augenmerk bei der Entwicklung des über 368 KW (500 PS) starken Renn-Elfers lag auf konsequentem Leichtbau, besserer aerodynamischer Effizienz, einer Reduzierung des Verbrauchs, besserer Fahrbarkeit, nochmals optimierter Sicherheit sowie einer Reduzierung der Service- und Ersatzteilkosten.

Von seinem Serienpendant übernommen hat der 911 GT3 R neben dem charakteristischen Double-Bubble-Dach auch den gegenüber der Vorgängergeneration um 8,3 Zentimeter verlängerten Radstand. Dies sorgt im Vergleich zum bisherigen GT3 R für eine ausgeglichenere Gewichtsverteilung und ein besser berechenbares Fahrverhalten vor allem in schnellen Kurven.

Alle Scheiben bestehen aus Polycarbonat

Konsequenter Leichtbau bei Karosserie, Anbauteilen und Fahrwerk ermöglichte es den Ingenieuren, die Schwerpunktlage des GT3 R gegenüber dem Vorgängermodell noch einmal deutlich zu optimieren. Die Leichtbaukarosserie des 911 GT3 RS Seriensportwagens in intelligenter Aluminium-Stahl-Hybridbauweise erwies sich bei der Konstruktion als optimale Basis für das Rennauto. Das Dach, Frontdeckel und Bugteil, Kotflügel, Türen, Seiten- und Heckteil sowie der Heckdeckel sind aus besonders leichtem Kohlefaser-Verbundwerkstoff (CFK) gefertigt. Alle Scheiben – und erstmals sogar die Frontscheibe – bestehen aus Polycarbonat.

Angetrieben wird der neue 911 GT3 R von einem hochmodernen Vierliter-Sechszylinder-Boxermotor, der weitgehend identisch mit dem Hochleistungs-Serienaggregat des straßenzugelassenen 911 GT3 RS ist. Für einen besonders effizienten Umgang mit dem Kraftstoff sorgen die Benzindirekteinspritzung, die mit Drücken bis zu 200 bar arbeitet, sowie eine variable Nockenwellenverstellung.

Der neue Porsche 911 GT3 R

Gleichzeitig bietet der Saugmotor eine gegenüber dem Vorgängeraggregat deutlich verbesserte Leistungsentfaltung und ein breiter nutzbares Drehzahlband. Die Kraft des Heckmotors wird mittels eines sequenziellen Porsche-Sechsgang-Klauengetriebe an die 310 Millimeter breiten Hinterräder übertragen. Wie bei den GT-Straßenmodellen des 911 betätigt der Fahrer zum Schalten der Gänge griffgünstig platzierte Wippen am Lenkrad.

Das Bremssystem des 911 GT3 R wurde weiter optimiert

Auch bei der Aerodynamik folgt der 911 GT3 R dem Vorbild des Straßenfahrzeugs. Die markanten Radhausentlüftungen auf den vorderen Kotflügeln erhöhen den Abtrieb an der Vorderachse. Der zwei Meter breite und 40 Zentimeter tiefe Heckflügel sorgt für die aerodynamische Balance. Vom großen Bruder 911 RSR übernimmt der GT3 R das Konzept des zentral angeordneten Kühlers. Der Entfall der Seitenkühler sorgt neben einer besseren Schwerpunktlage und eine optimierten Abluftführung durch die Kiemen in der Fronthaube zusätzlich für einen besseren Schutz vor Beschädigungen.

Auch das Bremssystem des 911 GT3 R wurde weiter optimiert und eignet sich dank besserer Steifigkeit und einer präziseren Regelung des Antiblockiersystems noch besser für Langstreckenrennen. An der Vorderachse sorgen Sechskolben-Aluminium-Monobloc-Rennbremssättel in Kombination mit innenbelüfteten, geschlitzten Stahlbremsscheiben mit 380 Millimeter Durchmesser für brillante Verzögerungswerte. An der Hinterachse sind Vierkolben-Sättel und Scheiben mit 372 Millimeter verbaut.

Vergrößerter FT3 Sicherheitstank

Ein weiterer Entwicklungsschwerpunkt war die Sicherheitsausstattung des GT3 R. Der gegenüber dem Vorgängermodell um zwölf auf 120 Liter vergrößerte FT3 Sicherheitstank wurde verstärkt und verfügt über ein „Fuel-Cut-Off“ Sicherheitsventil. Die Türen sowie die Seitenscheiben sind abnehmbar. Die Rettungsluke im Dach wurde vergrößert. Der neue Rennschalensitz bietet den Piloten im Falle eines Aufpralls noch besseren Schutz.

Der neue Porsche 911 GT3 R kann ab sofort zu einem Preis von 429.000 Euro zuzüglich länderspezifischer Mehrwertsteuer bestellt werden und wird ab Dezember 2015 an die Rennteams ausgeliefert.
